After Reaver sends back one too many heads in a duffel bag, Dread decides to take matters into his own hands. To his surprise, Reaver surrenders willingly. But Dread’s new prisoner is no coward. I was hesitant to buy this book, as tie-in stories have a reputation for being bad, and I prefer books on paper (or on audio book while I'm working on something else.) However, Reaver is that rare type of jerk that's pulled off well; through pure power of personality, he became one of the most unforgettable characters of the series. I liked him enough to buy this book, and upon reading it, I don't have any regrets.Peter David can write Reaver. Even without the excellent voice acting, he captured what makes him such a fun character: the innuendo, the wit, the flaws, the sheer audacity. The story is short, but well worth the dollar it cost, and then some. Though short, it was fun, and more importantly, entertaining. As soon as Reaver really arrived, I was grinning the whole time.
My only problems were the slow intro are tiny nit picks, occasionally, when the dialogue got a little too modern: i.e. "No worries" instead of "Not to worry." A small thing and it only happened a few things.
Highly recommended to any fans of Fable, Reaver, or a well written anti-hero. Spend your dollar, you wont regret it. I sure didn't.

Fable Reaver Short Story edition by Peter David Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Reaver is my absolute favorite from the Fable series. I like the books much more than the games now. There is just so much more action and depth in them.
It was a good game, and hearing some more of the stories of the people in it was fascinating! I would recommend Peter David to anyone, and this is another great example of why.
I love this writer for his fable stories! They are all wonderfully written! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to further the fable experience!
Very sad and poorly written doesn't work in the fable universe you didn't really understand the physically or how his mind worked
I liked it cause i'm an avid Reaver fan...but in all honesty it was short and poorly done. Lots of Reaver smart alecness...but it seemed like the author was trying WAY to hard to pump that reaver feeling into it. Sure its a younger Reaver but it's really just very over done. The story is short and very predictable.
Fun read. Out of the 3 short stories this is probably the best. It fits the lore of fable perfectly whereas the jack of blades story is hard to place on the fable timeline and the Theresa story while good is just unnecessary . I read this story right after playing treasure Island of doom in fable 2.
Peter David really outdid himself with this one! He got Reaver's character spot on, and it was just as fun to read as it is to play the games. I found myself wanting more by the end of it! Lots of great humor, action, and, of course, our favorite foppish pirate--perfect for any Fable fan.
