I had this for a few months before I started reading it. It was so impossibly boring that I went back to read the reviews. I couldn't believe that so many people have given this four stars. So I tried to forge ahead in hopes of finding the story the others were proclaiming was so wonderful. I simply cannot see it. The main characters personalities seem to change at random. The action is nonexistent. The plot just rambled on tediously as if the author himself had no real idea of where the story was going. I got about fifty percent through and realize I just didn't care. I skimmed to the end and realized that I still didn't care. Somewhere folks are reading this and finding a wonderful tale. I just found it painfully, painfully dull.Tags : The Fall: Book 1 of The God Slayers Quartet (God Slayers Trilogy) (Volume 1) [David L Dawson] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. <div><b>The first book in the amazing God Slayers Quartet, a new science fiction post-apocalyptic series for young adults and adults alike. The Fall Book 1 of The God Slayers Quartet God Slayers Trilogy Volume 1 David L Dawson 9781477691892 Books Reviews
I would have loved a story about reckless gods and panther/human mutants. But we're still not there about 25% in. Instead we get whining and self pity. Not interesting and not well written. Dialogue is flat. And the narrative contradicts itself over and over.
I didn’t care that this was a YA book. I was going to read it and enjoy it! Well, I read it and did NOT enjoy it. Ben is a whiny baby! There are so many times I wanted to just slap him. Honestly, I didn’t care for any of the characters.
I genuinely liked this book, even though I rarely read books for YA crowd.
Pros
1. Very easy to read.
2. An interesting plot with a very surprising twist at the end that neatly sets up next volume, 'The Sky is Falling'.
3. Characters are complex, especially Ben. Sometimes frustrating, often unpredictable but always likeable.
Cons
1. I wish book had a table of contents. It is just a personal quirk of mine )
2. I would probably raise recommended reading age to 16 plus but perhaps I am just a bit old-fashioned.
I am looking forward to reading 'The Sky is Falling' to see how Ben and Skye search is continuing.
Solid five stars.
The fall by David l Dawson
I love the way the Author writes the story.and makes you want to read more and more. It is time for his journey to begin and he finds strange things and strange
creatures, a boy named Ben Casper of the House of Casper who is only 14 and must become a man to fight not only for all the people in the House of Casper
who is like family, but must endure the fighting of the two last Titan Gods that is destroying the world as they try to kill each other. Then in comes the Order of
Powers who want to take over everyone minds to worship the Gods. Ben at times thinks he as gone mad at the things that happen to him amd his friends and
grows up quickly despise his young age. The book is well written and was an enjoyment to me to read.
I got this book cause I enjoy gay Sci-fi and fiction. I got book one, and was curious as to where this story would lead and how it would end, so I got book 2 and then book 3. There is a book 4 I guess but who knows how to get it, or if I even want to. The author's writing is a bit hard to read. Too many British colloquialisms. Also, the story was slow and too complex and seemingly went no where at the end. It wasn't bad, but a bit of a waste of my time in the end.
I liked the premise. But, I cannot enjoy a book that I edit as I read. It totally removes my suspension of disbelief. This author truly needs a group of beta readers or a professional editor to help make his novel a better reading experience.
Be warned this is a short offering. I'm not a fast reader and it took me one night from beginning to close.
The general concepts for a good teen novel are all here, with no truly new ideas. Something is a little off in the speed of delivery by the author. Some parts feeling rushed like a jumble of ideas in a mind all seeking exit through the storyteller's mouth at once.
Also a lot of characters were set in motion here, some detailed and others so vague you wonder if they were even worth the introduction in book one. I guess one has to hope they will all serve their purpose by series end.
I will buy the next novel if only to see how things begin to pan out for Ben.
